Golf (Kasumigaseki Country Club)

Golf (Olympics)

After an extended absence of 112 years, Golf returned as an Olympic sport in the most recent Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro 2016.

Golf involves using a club to strike a ball towards a small hole on the golf green, aiming to sink the ball with as few strokes as possible.

Players require the technique to perform accurate shots, a high level of concentration, and the power to execute a long carry (airborne travel distance).

The varied distances and terrains of each 'hole' of the venue's golf course make this sport unique!

Kasumigaseki Country Club

Kasumigaseki Country Club was the first golf course founded in Saitama Prefecture, boasting a history spanning over 90 years. It served as the venue for matches during the 5th Canada Cup (now the World Cup) in 1957. The east course, which will serve as the venue for events in the upcoming Games, was refurbished in 2016, increasing the fairway, bunker, and green area difficulty levels.
