JOC Partner City Agreement

The Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) and Saitama Prefecture signed the JOC Partner City Agreement on June 16, 2017.

JOC has concluded JOC Partner City Agreements with 25 cities and prefectures across Japan since signing its first agreement with Osaka City in 2002. Saitama Prefecture is the 10th contracting prefecture.

What is the JOC Partner City Agreement?

JOC Partner City Agreements were started to enable top athletes to use sports facilities of local governments to enhance their skills and competitiveness through collaboration between JOC and contracting cities or prefectures.

Eligible cities and prefectures must have experience hosting an international sporting event or international sports conference as well as a specific sports policy in place for the implementation of Olympic Movement programs on a long-term basis.

Based on the agreement, Saitama Prefecture will work with JOC to promote the Olympic Movement and sports.
