Horseback archery at the Izumoiwai Shrine

Yabusame (horseback archery) is a traditional Japanese practice and ceremony where arrows are shot from atop a running horse.
The yabusame practiced at the Izumoiwai Shrine in Moriyama, Saitama Prefecture, has been around for over 950 years.
Every spring and autumn there is a Yabusame Festival where boys become the horse riders and demonstrate their magnificent martial arts.
