 Furutone River Floating Lantern Festival

“The Milky Way that fell to the ground”

 

At the beginning of August every year, about 260 pieces, 3.3 square meter lanterns float down the Furutone River in this festival.
These lanterns are made by hand by the townspeople.
The two rows of floating lanterns are about 1 km long and is called “ the Milky Way that fell to the ground ”, due to its breathtaking beauty.
