Once Again You Can Enjoy the Festival Floats and Portable Shrines

at the Okegawa Gion Matsuri (Festival)

Long ago, Edo and Kyoto were conncted by a highway called the Nakasendo Path,

which gave prosperity to Okegawa.
The Okegawa Gion Matsuri, has a history expanding back to over 280 years,

started out as a rare summer festival where they mixed together Edo's portable shrines,

and Kyoto's festival floats. Each year on July 15th and 16th, the local pedestrian's heaven,

Nakasendo is crowded with many people from evening to sunset, all dressed in yukata.
