Firefly Bonfire Festival

Terraced rice-fields are paddy fields that are created in a stairway shape upon the slopes of mountains and valleys.
The Terasaka Terraced Fields in Yokoze, Saitama Prefecture, holds an annual event called the “Firefly Bonfire Festival”, which started in 2007 and allows people to get close to the rice fields. Locals and people from far away gather for this festival to see the beautiful terraced rice-fields and about 600 bonfires that look like fireflies at first glance. You will not be able to experience this type of illusion in the middle of a city.
