Cluster Amaryllis at Terasaka Terraced Fields

Saitama is one of the few places that houses Japan's famous rural landscape of terraced rice-fields.

Terraced rice-fields are paddy fields that are created in a stairway shape upon the slopes of mountains and valleys. Since each flat surface is small and on a slope, the maintenance and management of these fields are very important.

For that reason, terraced rice-fields are slowly disappearing, and it is said that over 40% of them are already lost.

The Terasaka Terraced Fields are about 55,000㎡ of Japanese rural scenery backed by the magnificent Mt. Buko. During September when the rice fields shine like gold, about 1.5 million cluster amaryllises bloom, making it the best time to visit. Early autumn is one of the best times to relax in Japan's beautiful rural areas, so please come and visit the Terasaka Terraced Fields.
