Saiseiin Hyakutai Kannon-do (Honjo City)

The Saiseiin Hyakutai Kannon-do was built to mourn the victims of the great eruption of Mount Shinshu Asama in 1783. This is a rare architectural style temple that has a spiral corridor with two layers outside and three layers inside, and is commonly called “Sazae-do”. Kannon from Saikoku, Bando, and Chichibu are enshrined here. The visitation reception desk is at the Honjo Tourist and Agricultural Center.
