Nagayamon Nomen Art Museum

Nagayamon Nomen Art Museum is a museum exhibiting rare Noh masks from all around Japan, and visitors can learn the production process of making these masks. Mr. Fukuyama Gensei is a professional Noh mask artisan, and he works daily at his own workshop in Tokorozawa and the Nomen Art Museum. He has made over 500 Noh masks during his 45 year career. Noh is one of Japan’s classical performing arts, a singing and dancing play that was created during the Muromachi period (1333-1573). Mr. Fukuyama is entrusted to make masks of great warlords, such as Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu.
