The Third Kawaguchi Hatogaya Nikko Onarimichi Festival

This festival is held in Kawaguchi and Hatogaya along the Onarimichi road which was prepared in the early Edo Era for the exclusive use of the Tokugawa Shogun family and leads to Nikko Toshogu Shrine where Tokugawa Ieyasu is enshrined.

At the start of the Nikko Pilgrimage Procession people dance to original songs such as, “Lively Kawaguchi” and “Onarimichi Samba Procession”. With around 1500 members performing together it is definitely a festival worth seeing. This is a magnificent historical procession that exceeds the original one 300 years ago.
